동명사 - 동사가 명사 역할을 하는 것. ~ ing 형식

to 부정사와의 차이.

- to 부정사는명사적 용법과 의미가 비슷한데, 비교적 미래의 일, 예정, 가정의 의미로 쓰인다.

- 동명사는 이미 과거에 일어난 일, 당위적인 일의 표현으로 쓴다.

현재분사와의 차이.

현재분사도 ~ing 형식. 한정적 용법의 경우 형용사의 역할을 하며, 명사의 상태를 수식해준다.

* 동명사만을 목적어로 받는 동사

enjoy (즐기다)

finish (끝내다)

to 부사적용법: ~하기위해

I live to eat. :나는 먹기위해 산다

I work hard to make money. :나는 돈벌기위해 열심히 일한다

They came here to meet me. :그들은 나를 만나기위해 여기왔다

형용사적용법:~할

I have work to do. :나는 해야할 일이 있다

There is nothing to buy. :사야할 것이 없다.

* take과 get이 무슨 차이인지 모르겠지만 지금은 그냥 외우자*

=> I don't like to eat sweet food.

* 딱히 틀린 건 아니지만 to eat을 넣는게 더 좋다네*

3. Love is to trust him. (O)

4. I studied hard to get scholarship. (X)

=> I studied hard to get a scholarship.

*장학금이 가산명사일 줄이야...외우자*

5. There are many books to read in the library. (O)

6. You should not postpone to meet a doctor. (X)

=> You should not postpone seeing the doctor.

* 진찰/치료를 위해 병원가는걸 seeing the doctor 라고 한다더라....알았던건데 틀렸다*

=> My dream is traveling in India. * to travel 과 traveling 둘다 써도 되는거 같은데 책에 답은 ing다*

8. Joging every morning is good for your health. (O)

접속사

1) 단어와 단어, 어구와 어구, 문장과 문장을 동일 관계로 연결하는 등위접속사(Coordinating conjunctions)

일명 F.A.N.B.O.Y.S.E.

For ~해서, And 그리고, Nor ~도 아닌, But 그러나, Or 또는, Yet 그러나, So 그래서, Except~를 제외하고

2) 문장과 문장을 주종관계로 연결시키는 종속 접속사(Subordinating conjunctions)

주절은 자체로 문장이 되지만, 종속절은 추가적인 정보를 제공하며 독립적인 문장이 될 수 없다.

종속 접속사는 등위 접속사보다 그 종류가 많고 기능이 다양하다.

* 장소 전치사를 자주 틀리는구나. at a club과 in a club의 차이점이라...뭘까

dancing을 하는 행동을 하는게 club 내부이니까 in 이 더 맞는것 같다.

형용사의 어순

지시관사-수량-대,소-모양-성질-색깔-신,구-재료-명사

지.수.대.성.신.색.재.명 - 이렇게 외우고 다녔던 기억이 있다.

시험에는 그중에 4-5개를 나열하는게 나오는게 일반적인듯.

일상회화에서는 딱히 순서 좀 틀려도 이해하는데는 문제없고

한국식(=내맘대로) 써도 문제없다는게 대세 ^^

미국인들도 가끔 틀리는데 뭐....ㅋ

강조하고픈 걸 앞에다 자연스럽게 쓰면 되지뭘.ㅋㅋ
